About Me

A native of Maryland, Mel Henry has traveled the globe and logged over 20,000 air miles filming documentaries,commercials and psa's for broadcast. He graduated from Antioch University with a special concentration in Photojournalism and Documentary for social change, In 1984 and 1985 Henry attended the Maine Media Workshops where he studied under former ASC President Tom Ackerman. Henry is associated with creativity,sophisticated lighting and effective work in difficult conditions.

His first job as a cameraman in broadcasting was a PBS where he quickly moved up the ranks to become a Cinematographer and then Director of Photography, winning several Emmy's for his hard work and dedication. Seeking even tougher challenges, Henry set out on his own and joined TF-1 French National Television as a contracted freelancer working with the renowned Gerad St. Paul. It was there he learned the French way of telling stories with pictures first. Since then he has served as DP to Ted Koppel, Robert Greenwald, Robert Uth, Hedrick Smith, Ellen Perry and others.
